MECHANICAL PROBLEMS

Here are a few engine problems that hurt fuel economy:

- missing or defective thermostat, causing low operating temperature

- clogged intake manifold exhaust crossover passage (for heating intake manifold)

- engine misfire caused by bad spark plug, ignition wire, coil, dist. cap or rotor

- late ignition timing

- bad vacuum advance unit (common in old cars)

- stuck centrifugal advance mechanism in distributor (needs oil occasionally)

- bad tension adjustment of centrifugal advance springs

- defective oxygen sensor (causes rich mixture)

ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS

Many malfunctions that occur in vehicles can be diagnosed as automotive electrical problems. The source of these problems is usually related to the electricity that is being generated by the battery or alternator. Each of these car problems can typically be separated into one of several categories.

Since the battery is the source of electricity for a vehicle, it is no surprise that it is commonly a cause for many automotive electrical problems. Usually the issue is a dead battery, caused when the battery can no longer hold a charge. Sometimes a faulty component of the vehicle can cause a dead battery. Other times it can be a result of leaving a component like the headlights or stereo on for an extended period of time. This problem can usually be remedied rather easily with either a jump-start or a battery recharge. A car battery can also become damaged or simply too old and in need of a replacement.

ENGINE SERIVICE
  1. Extended your vehicle’s life Changing your oil & Filter will reduce wear on engine components; this together with an overall ‘Health-Check’ will ensure your car is at its best; this can vastly extend your cars life
  2. Maintain your car’s value A properly maintained car is worth more; when you come to sell your car a full service history will ensure you get the best price
  3. Improve fuel economy Oil carries particles that clog up the filter, which will ultimately reduce the life of your engine and its efficiency; by changing these parts in many cases your fuel economy (MPG) will be increased
  4. Prevent breakdowns Properly maintaining your vehicle will prevent problems before they become serious; significantly reducing the risk of breaking down
  5. Reduce cost of repairs A fully maintained car is less likely to go wrong, saving you money on costly repairs

CLUTCH REPAIRS

The clutch is a wear item just like brakes. The material it is made from rubs on the flywheel to engage the engine to the transmission. Everytime you push in and release the clutch pedal, a little of this material wears away. How fast this happens depends on the ability of the operator. Overreving your engine or riding the clutch accelerate the wear.

BRAKE REPAIRS
Brake pads stop your car by applying friction to the brake rotor. Stopping your car with disc brakes produces enormous heat. Luckily, they’re designed to take the abuse, but only for so long. Brakes are the most important part on your car. Even the fastest, most expensive sports cars are worthless without good a good braking system.
